2004 Top 10, At A Glance

Summary Of The Chart Year

2004 was quite an interesting year on my charts. It was transitional for me, in music taste. A dear friend that I met online, Lauren, introduced me to Christian music in November 2003, and I began tuning in to local Christian radio the following month. The first two Christian songs debuted on my chart at the end of 2003, and performed quite well in 2004. One of them, Stacie Orrico's More To Life, even ranked #9 for the year. More importantly, though, it and the other Christian song to first enter my chart, MercyMe's Word Of God Speak, led the way for more Christian songs to take my chart by storm. Overall, Christian music went from having virtually no showing on my charts in 2003, to becoming the most prevalent genre in my Top 50 this year. However, mainstream music still prevails on all my Top 100 for the year, but not even half way into 2005, does it lose its hold. Gradually throughout 2004, I lost interest in mainstream music, but some songs did notably well, nonetheless, such as My Immortal and especially If You're Not The One, which also took #1 on my chart in 2003. Amazing, huh? Maybe that's unheard of elsewhere, having the same #1 favorite song for 2 years in a row. Well, I guess it's clear that I tend to hang on to favorites for quite a long time.
